Assessing the Artefactual Value

The artefactual value of this piece of ephemera can be divided into two categories: the monetary value and the didactic value. The monetary value of this pamphlet is $10 and it was bought by the University of Guelph Archives with other culinary ephemera.

The didactic value is the one that is more interesting as this pamphlet can tell us a lot of information regarding the advertising, gender and economic climate of Canada and the lifestyle of a middle-class household during the 20th century. It can also tell us about the paper industry by inspecting the paper used to make this pamphlet or the printing press used to make this.

The importance placed on versatility and energy throughout the pamphlet can provide historians with insight into what people wanted out of a grocery product and they can compare this with what people want out of a grocery product today.
