History of Kellogg’s

The company Kellogg’s began in 1898 with the founder W.K. and his brother Dr. John Harvey Kellogg. After a failed attempt with a granola product they decided to rethink their ideas and keep working until they accidentally made what is now known as their iconic product ‘Kellogg’s Corn Flakes’. After this they began working directly in the cereal industry which is where their first bran product ‘Kellogg’s Raisin Bran’ cereal. In 1915 the company started selling ‘Kellogg’s Bran Flakes’ and in 1916 they began selling ‘Kellogg’s All-Bran’. By the 1960’s Kellogg’s created a wide range of bran products by introducing ‘Kellogg’s Bran Buds’ and ‘Cracklin Oat Bran’. Kellogg’s then decided to promote the nutritional benefits of their bran products labelling it as high in fibre and helps with constipation. Once they saw an incline in bran product sales they released their cookbook ‘BRAN-new Labor Saving Ideas’ to show the consumers more versatile ways to use their bran products. The cookbook would include quick and simple recipes with minimal steps and ingredients to target families that want a fast, yet delicious meal. Since the beginning, Kellogg’s has made it their mission to change the way families eat their breakfast by creating a wide spread of products that can be prepared and eaten with minimal effort yet loaded with flavour and nutrients.
