The author of Cherished Recipes: Ladies Fellowship is the Apostolic Church, which was located in Gaspereau Mt., Nova Scotia. The Apostolic Church is a Christian denomination that arose from Pentecostal origins in the early 19th century. The name "Apostolic" is derived from the twelve apostles who followed Jesus. The church was first formed in 1916 and it has grown to include churches in over forty countries worldwide. The first Apostolic Church in Canada was established in 1927 and the first Apostolic Church in Gaspereau Mt. was built in 1928.

The Ladies Fellowship was a group of churchwomen who met once a week for prayer and Bible study. They also did fundraising work in their communities, such as giving gifts to residents of long-term care homes and helping with civic improvement projects. It is safe to assume that the members of the Ladies Fellowship created this cookbook to encourage and help other women diversify their menus, as well as showcasing the recipes and foodstuffs that were beloved on the East Coast of Canada.
