The viral laundry stripping hack that became popular during the COVID-19 pandemic actually existed in the 1920s. On page 40 of Wise Wives, within the the Household Hints section, it notes that: "a little borax and luke warm water will remove all alkaline from wool materials and leave them soft and fluffy.
