St. Mary's Church.JPG

The Guild of St. Mary’s Anglican Church created, compiled, and published the Kindersley Cook Book. There is little to no information available about the original church under this name or the women who compiled the book. Using social media and contacts through email, however, some relevant information was uncovered. In a local history book called Kindersley Memories, it is noted that the original church was built in 1910 (image provided here) and consecrated on July 2, 1911 by Bishop Harding of Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan. The structure was damaged in 1917 due to arson, but it was refurbished and new additions were added in 1944. According to Kindersley Memories, the women who were part of the parish were very involved in church lunches and social events. Furthermore, there was an Anglican Church Women’s Group that was also involved in parish activities while the church was in operation. This women’s group is suspected to have created and published the Kindersley Cookbook. Recently, St. Mary’s Church was renamed the New Life Community Church in the summer of 2020.
