The Bliss Cook Book was published by Alonzo O. Bliss Medical Company. No credit is given to any individuals for the recipes. The company is the sole author of the cook book. Their main office was located on 124 St. Paul St. East, Montreal. To my knowledge, they have not written any other cookbooks aside from this one. They were a medical company, so they did not have experience in culinary practices. They have a history through Bliss Native Herbs, their medicine, as they claim it is had been a "family medicine with a record of twenty-seven years use in thousands of homes all over the civilized world." The cook book explains their motives for publishing. The Alonzo O. Bliss Medical Company published the Bliss Cook Book to make Canadians healthy. In the beginning, it states that the company had an ambitious goal, to fight “mankind's greatest concern... [which] is sickness... a handicap to every one.” The Alonzo O. Bliss Medical Company aimed to promote good health by selling Bliss Native Herbs and recommending recipes for fighting disease. There is no picture of the people who ran the company, but there is a detailed drawing of their main office in Montreal.
