Maple Leaf Cooking School: A Complete Home Study Course for Beginners and Others in Twelve Easy Lessons was directed by Anna Lee Scoot. However, after trying to research the history of this author, there was nothing. By looking at the secondary source of Elizabeth Driver's book, Culinary Landmarks a Bibliography of Canadian Cookbooks, 1825-1949 I was able to identify that Anna Lee Scott was not one specific individual but a persona. As mentioned in Driver's Book, the women who stepped into the fictional shoes of Anna Lee Scott included: Grace Barbara Gray, Ethel Whitham, Mary Adams, Helen Gagen, and ending with Sally Henry. However, there were no signs for the reason why they kept changing the person. Finally, Anna Lee Scott's persona embodied a woman with societal expectations similar to the living trademark of Betty Crocker. She was a fictitious person, represented by a real woman as a way to connect with the readers and audiences.
