The St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Cookbook is a compilation of recipes from the Church congregation. The Daughters of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church published the cookbook around 1943 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Church. Judith Nasby donated the book to the Canadian Cookbook Collection at the University of Guelph in 2015. The cover of The St. Andrew’s Cookbook features a simple illustration of the exterior of the Church from the roadside. The recipes were typed out on a typewriter by two congregants, Miss Kathy Elliot and Mrs Joe Fairclough, and the cover illustrations appeared to have been created as a stamp.  The cookbook is divided into seven sections with a forward for the reader; the book is eighty-eight pages in length. The sections include recipes for dinner, snacks, lunches, casseroles, biscuits, salads and cookies with no table of contents or index. The recipes within the book range from hearty meat and seafood dinner recipes, Asian-inspired lunch fares, to charming casseroles and cookies. Local Guelph and Fergus businesses funded the publication of the cookbook and are featured in a series of advertisements at the end of each section. This book is a perfect window into 1950’s Guelph communal life and cuisine.
