The title of this cookbook is Canadian Grown Apples in which a subheading is incorporated into the title underneath the main title to the right that reads ‘Delight in every bite -.’ This cookbook was created under the Fruit Branch Department of Agriculture located in Ottawa Canada. This cookbook was published under Minister of Agriculture Robert Weir and is dated in 1934 and printed by J.O Patenaude who is recognized as the King’s printer. According to Elizabeth Driver’s Culinary Landmarks: A Bibliography of Canadian Cookbooks, this is not the first edition of Canadian Grown Apples, in fact, the first edition was titled ‘Pommes cultivees au Canada’ created in 1923 in the French language. There is no direct information on how the cookbook is sold, but because the publication was done under the government it is possible that copies of the cookbook were present in government buildings or possibly even delivered to house by mail under the Canadian government’s postal system.

Since the book is entirely based upon the use of Canadian apples the cookbook’s could be sold in local grocery stores in order to promote people to buy the apples upon leaving the store or be sold by local farmers who sold produce to the community. Since this cookbook was made through the Fruit Branch Department of Agriculture the government would most likely have funded the creation of this cookbook and could very well have supported apple industries across Canada in order for the spread of the cookbook and the buying of apple based products. The cookbook itself is 21.0 by 15.0 cm in its dimensions with twenty six numbered pages with an extra page left blank and unnumbered at the end of the book. The book was created from paper material and has a bright and colourful cover. The cover features a big glass bowl with four full size brightly coloured red apples as well as an apple outside of the bowl that is sliced in half in which the reader can see the bright white flesh of the fruit. The cover contains a mid blue backdrop the title, subtitle as well as the department the cookbook is created by is all printed in bright blue wording. The cover is quiet crisp and clear and in very good condition with a punchole at the top of the book. The back of the book features a stamp that reads Department of Agriculture Canada, suggesting the formalness and official nature of the document as well as the publication information. The written words are in slightly darker blue colour compared to the written words on the cover of the book and the backdrop is white.

Every page of the cookbook, excluding the title page and the first page offers a statement, question or information pertaining to apples. For example, page fourteen contains a statement that reads, “Join the Apple Consumer’s League to-day” while page twenty one reads, “Apples hermetically sealed from pathogenic germs." This cookbook is classified as a government publication cookbook and contains over thirty different recipies, many of dessert recipies such as apple pies and apple cakes, that all include Canadian Grown apples either fresh or canned.
