The Kindersley Cookbook is a 52-page booklet made up of over 225 recipes written by various women from all over Canada. There are recipes written by women from Kindersley, Saskatchewan; Toronto, Ontario; Calgary, Alberta, as well as many other locations. Unfortunately there is little to no information available online about the women who compiled the book or about the St. Mary Anglican Church in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. The recipes compiled by woman around Canada suggests that there were a few Anglican churches that shared recipes with the Kindersley Church. I contacted the local museum association of Saskatchewan as well as the Saskatchewan Provincial Archives, and the Communications Manager for the town of Kindersley. I received contact information that belongs as a member to the St. Mary’s Anglican Church. This individual provided me with some information about the church and its history. They said “St. Mary’s Anglican Church was and still is a parish in the Anglican Diocese of Qu’Appelle.” In 1947, this church was well known as part of the Church of England in Canada. The women’s groups were established around 1905 when the church was consecrated. The St. Mary’s Anglican Church had a Women’s Auxiliary, which was most likely responsible for the Kindersley Cookbook. This individual made an effort to explain that all Anglican women were considered a part of the Women’s Auxiliary, even if they were not active within the church or a part of the Altar Guild. This led to an assumption that there may have been “sister churches” within other parts of Canada linked to the Kindersley Church.
