Did You Know?

In 1935, the Canada Starch Company sued its primary competitor, the St. Lawrence Starch Company, over a dispute about which brand's corn syrup was used to feed the famous Dionne Quintuplets. Born near Corbeil, Ontario in 1934, they were the first quintuplets to survive more than a few days and instantly became famous. Canada Starch argued that St. Lawrence Starch was falsely advertising that its corn syrup had been used and this was hurting Canada Starch’s business. However, it was determined that the Quints did receive St. Lawrence Starch’s corn syrup, which gave St. Lawrence Starch full and exclusive advertising rights.
