The section of the cookbook that addresses "Dried Foods" focuses on the importance of preserving fresh foods. The emphasis here is on making sure that nutrients are preserved when drying foods and that foods are cooked properly. During the period when Build the Health of Your Family was published, canning and preserving fruits and vegetables was a common practise. The “Wear-Ever New Method of Cooking” claimed that their cookware allowed cooks to maintain the nutrients in their food while preserving the quality and taste. This section of the cookbook assures readers that the Aluminum Company of Canada has everything one needs to get through a winter of limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables without compromising nutrition.

The “Roasting Without Water” section of the cookbook focuses on meat and proper ways of cooking it while retaining its full flavour. It discusses being able to maintain the juiciness in meats and how to prevent them from drying out. The Wear-Ever cookware claimed that by roasting meats using their methods, the cut of the meat would retain its size, nutritional value, and flavour. For families with smaller budgets to manage, this meant that they could stretch their resources and still ensure a healthful final product. The advertised pans with heavy covers promised that they could roast meat at half the cost of other cookware and save on fuel bills.
