The Milky Way to Health and Beauty: Selected Recipes was created by Highland Dairy Limited, a dairy company based in Toronto, Ontario. It was incorporated June 27, 1929, following the amalgamation of Crescent Dairy and the milk distributing business of A.J. Hancock. It served the Toronto area for many years from 670 Ontario Street. While no author’s name is present, one name is featured in the cookbook -- Highland Dairy Limited’s managing director, Ronald J. Macdonald. His signature can be found underneath a brief holiday message on the front page. MacDonald was previously employed at another dairy company, Caulfield Dairy, and served as Highland Dairy’s managing director from at least 1930 to 1956. Another former employee of Caulfield Dairy became a director at Highland Dairy in early 1930 named George Stronach and he is pictured here.
