Meet the Author

There is no specific author noted for this cookbook. Instead, it appears to have been created by the E.W. Gillett Co. Ltd. The company was founded by P.W. Gillett in 1852 in Toronto, Canada. The company was known for the manufacture of baking powder, yeast cakes, and lye. The company claimed the “use of yeast as a means of curing disease and maintaining good health.” The creator did not intend for this to be a typical cookbook as it does not contain different sections with different styles of recipes. Instead, their purpose was to sell their Royal Yeast Cakes by recommending various ways they can be used and the health benefits of consuming them. In 1929, the E.W. Gillett Co. Ltd. merged with several other companies to form Standard Brands Inc.
