The compilers of We Entertain: With Salads, Sandwiches, Cakes, Cookies, Desserts, Supper Dishes were members of the Woman's Association of Toronto's Hope United Church. Each recipe within the collection is accompanied by the name of the woman who submitted it. Likely, these women were members of the Association or the parish and were asked to submit a recipe (or several recipes) to support the cookbook's fundraising purpose. According to the cookbook, the Hope United Church was located at the corner of Main Street and the Danforth in Toronto. Upon its creation in 1884, the church was called the Hope Methodist Church until it became the Hope United Church in 1925. The building is still standing today and is now known as the Dentonia Park United Church. Its address is 2549 Danforth Avenue, Toronto. On Google Maps, a section of the church is still labelled as the Hope United Church.
