Meet the Author

There is not a single author of this cookbook; rather, it seems to have been written by several people from the Acme Aluminum Corporation. Acme was an aluminum company that seems to have been based out of Sherbrooke, Quebec, as that is where this cookbook was published. This company’s connection to cooking was that they made a lot of aluminum products, including aluminum cookware for waterless cooking. To promote their cookware, the company prepared the cookbook and offered readers tips for using their waterless cooking method and products. As such, this can be characterized as an advertising cookbook. Acme also manufactured a product called the “Acme Food Chopper” that was featured in a cookbook titled Cook Book Containing Recipes for a Number of Excellent Dishes Which Can Be Made Best with Acme Food Choppers. That book was published in Toronto by T. Eaton Co. Limited. Unfortunately, little else has been gleaned about the history of the Acme Aluminum Corporation and whether they were successful in marketing and selling their aluminum cookware.
