Dr. Frederick Tisdall

Stainless Steel Cookware for Tastier Foods, Better Health seems to have been compiled by Canadian Cookware Limited but the book was distributed by H. Naylor, Stainless Steel Cookware, from Melmac Dinner Ware, Flatware, which was located on McKellar Street in Peterborough, Ontario. The cookbook showcases how to use Canadian Cookware Limited's waterless cooking set to effeciently prepare nutritious dishes. There is very little information available about H. Naylor, Melmac Dinner Ware, or Canadian Cookware Limited. It is possible that Canadian Cookware Limited may still exist today under the name Canadian Food Equipment Limited, which is located in Etobicoke only a few blocks away from the original location of Canadian Cookware Limited cited in the cookbook. Within the book, Dr. Frederick Tisdall is credited with the nutrition information provided in Stainless Steel Cookware for Tastier Foods, Better Health. Dr. Tisdall was one of three Canadian pediatricians who developed the infant cereal, Pablum, in the early 1930s. He first started working at Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children in 1921. In 1929 he was made Director of the Nutritional Research Laboratories. Dr. Tisdall is shown in the accompanying image.
