This cookbook has two authors: Marian Fox Burros and Lois Levine. The authors have collaborated on other cookbooks together, such as, The Elegant but Easy Cookbook, The Summertime Cookbook: Elegant but Easy Dining Inside and Out, Come for Cocktails, Stay for Supper. There is little information about Marian Fox Burros and even less so for Lois Levine, but this is what could be found. Marian Fox Burros is a food writer, columnist and editor who wrote for the New York Times and the Washington Post and was born in Waterbury, Connecticut and she was raised by her mother, as her father passed away when she was young. She attended Wellesley College and graduated in 1954. In 1960, she wrote her first cookbook Elegant but Easy Cookbook with Lois Levine who went to the same college as well. Fox Burros advocated for healthier and more sustainable eating and wrote about topics like politics of food, health, nutrition, agriculture and food safety. She wrote for the New York Times for twenty-seven years. Lois Levine attended Wellesley College and graduated in 1952. She also wrote her own cookbooks, such as, Delicious Diet Cookbook: The Sensible Way to Slim and Lois Levine’s Vegetable Favorites.
