The Junior Jewish Cookbook is a cookbook that is targeted toward young children, especially young girls. The cookbook was intended so that children can spend more time with their mother while learning about their culture. As the author Aunt Fanny, mentioned in the dedication page, the children can use the recipes to surprise their mother or make the recipes together with her. In the dedication page, Aunt Fanny also mentions that the recipes are easy to follow and make, and will help the girls in hosting their own parties. There is a rule of etiquette page in the book which helps young girls to be more elegant and refined. The cookbook further educates the children reading about their culture and religion. This is done by having the cookbook divided into holiday sections. Each holiday has a short story relating to it, as well as including recipes that are related to that holiday. This makes it easier for the children that are reading the cookbook to understand the customs, and why the specific foods are served during certain holidays. The cookbook also has various hand-drawn illustrations on every page of the book to help the reader visualize how the recipes should look at the end, and also has drawings of the equipment needed for each recipe.
