Recipe Cards
The first instruction card is titled All My Children. This card contains eight different tips and hints pertaining to babies. Each tip and hint is portrayed by bullet points in consecutive order. There are tips and hints for babies using a bottle under the heading of, On The bottle, followed by tips and hints for remedying crying babies under the heading, For crying out loud. The last heading is titled, Going off the bottle with two listed bullet points with tips and hints helping a baby to wean. After each heading, there are bullet points providing the specific hints and tips for each topic. The tips and hints provided are simple yet helpful. An example of one of the hints discusses how stale bagels and other kinds of hardened bread are good teething foods. The instructions provided contribute to the overall theme of the book regarding simple and cost-effective tips and hints for domestic work; using stale bread for teething and an electric coffee pot to warm up milk for a baby.
The second instruction card is titled Sticking. This card provides hints and tips regarding how to clean and prevent food from sticking to cookware. There are five different headings with the relevant tips and hints outlined underneath each one. The five headings are Unmolding the gelatin, Pasta, Fried foods, Pastry and Cakes and cookies. The tips provided for each topic discuss the varying ways and products needed for simple and easy directions to unstick food from itself or from kitchenware. An example from this section is to place one's rolling pin into the freezer in order to prevent dough from sticking to it when used. The instructions provided contribute to the overall theme of the book by advising the reader to use items already owned by the reader to help prevent food sticking as well as techniques that would prevent an individual from buying commercial products they don't actually need.
