Did you know?

A 2012 episode of Mad Men, “Christmas Waltz”, featured a depiction of Ratner’s Dairy Restaurant in the 1960’s, providing viewers with a wave of nostalgia that The World-Famous Ratner’s Meatless Cookbook also provokes. The episode featured a kosher baked vegetable cutlet made of potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, onions, green beans, peas combined with matzo meal and egg, and finished off with a vegetarian mushroom sauce. The recipe, prepared a decade after Ratner’s closed its doors for good, comes right from The World-Famous Ratner’s Meatless Cookbook! (Check out the 'Vegetable Cutlets' recipe on the previous page!)
