Did you know?

Did you know that the first page of this cookbook is part of a calendar? It shows the months of February-March. This was interesting as you don’t see personal calendars in today’s cookbooks. For example, on Wednesday March 20 it is handwritten that someone had physio at 10:30am. The calendar reflects important events in the Jewish Community as on March 1st it says to light candles at 5:24pm same as March 8th, 15th and the 22nd. Another event that is important is the Fast of Esther which on the calendar takes place on March 7th. There are also indications that whoever owned this book before had children, or they were a teacher, as there are a couple dates that have “no school” written in pen on them.
