Meet the Author

Abby Kleinberg-Bassel.jpg

This cookbook was a community cookbook, meaning it was compiled by multiple authors. These authors consisted of parents and teachers of the Miriam School for Special Children. The editor, Abbey Kleinberg-Bassel was a teacher at the Miriam School, now called the Summit school. She taught there for 19 years as the full-time teacher in the designated languages class. This must have been Kleinberg-Bassels first job in her field of expertise. On her linked-in page she writes that she has 42 years of experience and the cookbook for the school came out 39 years ago. Now, Kleinberg-Bassel is a practicing special needs consultant and has a bachelors of child psychology and a masters in both early childhood education and special education. According to her website Kleinberg-Bassel consults for families that have children with global developmental delay, autism, and pervasive developmental delay. At the Miriam School Kleinber-Bassel taught children that were also delayed in development, had severe autism and/or exhibited difficult or aggressive behaviour. To this day Kleinberg-Bassel still works with schools through curriculum and classroom support programs and has even worked as a principal at a different school for one school year. No information can be found on Take it Easy Make it Easy in relation to Kleinberg-Bassel, additionally it seems she has not helped edit or write any additional cookbooks since.
