That kosher certified foods are actually considered to be safer and healthier than a standard vegan diet? Theoretically kosher is defined as “a process of food production that adheres to dietary guidelines set forth in the Bible and clarified over the centuries by rabbinic authorities in Jewish law”. What this means is that the food processing and slaughtering of the animals must be done under the supervision of a Rabbi, must follow strict Jewish rules and all foods must be prepared and cooked with the usage of kosher kitchenware. No meat can cross contaminate with dairy products, as it’s a rule that they frown upon, hence why no kosher person following the kosher diet would have consumed the pizza with both pepperoni and cheese. Additionally, all fruits, vegetables and fresh produce must be closely monitored and regularly checked for any pests or unwanted insect hosts.

So now, how is kosher diet superior than vegan diet? Even though a person following a vegan diet consumes fruits, nuts and vegetables, this doesn’t mean that their diet is necessarily healthy. Kosher produce is safer than those vegetables and fruits that a vegan might purchase, hence produce that a vegan purchases can be at risk of contaminating pests, whereas kosher produce doesn’t. Many following kosher dietary rules, have incorporated veganism into their eating patterns. This is due to seeing positive results in consuming more fruits and vegetables, making it easier on the planet (using less greenhouse gases for the process for meat processing), lowers the risks of triggering allergies.
